Vacation time has BEGUN!!!

Well last Friday was my last day of work for this school year and as I patiently wait for what next year holds i'm going to enjoy my time off. For the first time in what seems like forever my lil family went on a family vacation Sunday to Monday. On Sunday we packed the car and headed to San Diego Wild Animal Park for the first time with Carter. He absolutely loved it. While he enjoyed see all the animals all he wanted to do all day was feed the ducks. So finally before we left Roy broke a dollar so he could feed them. Here are a few pictures from that day.

After the Wild Animal Park we dropped our stuff at the hotel and then went out and had some more fun. It was such a relaxing day and it was so nice to spend the day with my hubby and monkey boy.

The next day we took Carter to Sea World since I needed to activate my teacher fun card before it expired. We spent a little over 7 hours at the park and had a blast. We usually do not watch any shows but we decided to watch the new Shamu show and it was awful. Poor Carter was bored like 5 minutes into it. Carter had a blast feeding the dolphins and Sea Lions. Although he loves Shamu he is now loving polar bears and penguins (Nay would be so proud). Here are a few pictures.

It was definitely a nice relaxing mini vacay and we definitely look forward to being able to do it again.

In other news, Roy's 30th birthday is right around the corner and this weekend I am taking him to Vegas to celebrate. Roy always says he does not want anything for his birthday but I felt like his 30th needed to be something special. We really enjoyed ourselves last time we went so I decided to do that again for him. This time we are staying at Excalibur so we can be at the other end of the strip.

Well that's it for now....

Keeping busy

The Montry family has been rather busy since my last update. At work I am getting my students for CST's when we get back from Spring Break and at home we just finished the Ducks 7 game homestand, although we do have another home game this Wednesday... Last week Roy had a job interview for Utiliquest(?) and he was really impressed with the company and would LOVE the job. So needless to say we are keeping our fingers crossed he passes the first round of interviews and gets to move on to the testing part of it. Carter is starting to get another cold which sucks. I swear the kid is always bringing home some kind of cold, the joys of daycare :)

This past weekend my school had its annual semester trip to Knotts which was fun. I bribed 10 of my students to go on Supreme Scream and Accelerator with me. I told them I would give them extra credit so they were all over that. Roy and I also got a wooden sign made with the Ducks and Red Wings logo on it with "The Montrys" written in the middle. The sign turned out great. My ASB students were super sweet and had a Jehue ASB sign made for me.

This week is a busy week as well. It is officially 4 days until Spring Break starts, we have hockey on Wednesday, I have a school dance on Thursday and our Superintendent is coming Thursday so ASB is throwing a pep rally and going all out at both lunches. Needless to say, I have my hands full this week.

I dont even know if anyone reads my posts but if you do I hope you have a great week!!!

Lovin Life

Things have been going great in the Montry house hold lately. Carter is getting so big and I swear he is one smart boy. Although, the kid will not keep his clothes on to save his life. The second he gets home everyday from daycare he starts stripping down. I'm wondering if this is normal for little boys (please tell me it is)??? Like I said, the kid is smart.... He knows his numbers through 12 i believe, he knows his letters, he can spell his name and knows the National Anthem :) Yep I think the last one is my favorite. He sings the National Anthem at every Ducks game and is so stinkin cute. Today was National Anthem day so he got to sing it at daycare with all his friend. When we sat down for dinner him and I began to sing it at the table after we asked him how his day was. One of these days I will record it for everyone to see.

Work has been going great for both Roy and I, well with the exception of today, and with his work hours the same as mine we actually get home at the same time instead of one of us home alone for several hours before the other arrives. Our lives have fallen into a lovely routine that has made this one happy family. With having the same hours we get a lot of family time and we are loving every moment of it.

Hockey has been going great too. All three of us absolutely love going to the games and really do not mind how tired we are the next day. I have gotten used to not sleeping that much with having a kid that loves to come crawl into your bed around 3a.m. every morning. Last night my Ducks took on Roy's Red Wings so I was outnumbered in the car. Both Roy and Carter were decked out in their Red Wings stuff while I as always stayed loyal to my Ducks wearing my Bobby Ryan jersey. The game was great and very intense during the 3rd period. My Ducks pulled it off in the long run and won on a Bobby Ryan penalty shot during overtime for a much needed two points.

Well now that it is a little past 8p.m. I should really sign off. Carter knows that every night at 8 he has to get ready for bed, so being his mommy it's time to help my monkey. Until next time.. goodnight!!!

Here are some great pics from last nights game... Not bad for most of them being taken from section 437!!!

So the pictures posted from the last to first... hmmmmm...

Trying not to jinx myself

Well I've managed to keep this on the DL for about a month and now that the deadlines have passed I feel like it's ok to talk about it, but I am still worried I may jinx myself. For the first time in my 5 year teaching career I put in a transfer to another school. Don't get me wrong I love where I work and love teaching U.S. History and ASB but it's not what I want to do for my whole career. I never had the intention of working at a middle school but with the teaching jobs so limited I took it and have loved every moment of it. I have always wanted to teach high school because I focused on WWI, WWII and the Civil Rights Movement in college. I figured i've been teaching for 5 years so I should at least try to reach my dreams, so I did it. A month ago I turned in my transfer slip to go to the HS. I have absolutely no idea if it will go through or not, but I find myself getting a little more excited everyday. When I first turned in the slip I was worried it wasn't my time to leave ASB but I prayed about it and thought about it constantly and one day I woke up knowing it was the right decision. So, now that I hoping this post doesn't jinx my chance of getting to the HS I ask that everyone who reads this keeps their fingers crossed for me :)

2 posts in 1 day... dont get used to it :)

Only 2 1/2 years later

Wow, so it's been 2 1/2 years since I was on my blog. A lot has changed since then. Last time I posted Carter was almost a month old and now he's 2 1/2. Our lives have gotten so crazy over these last 2 1/2 years. We watched Roy have a job, loose his job and finally get a job again. Then it was back to the usual for me, work a school year, get pink slipped, work again, get pink slipped... we've fallen into a routine of job uncertainty and it's definitely not fun. Everything (job wise that is) has been stable for about 6 months so it is really nice, although, I will be finding out by March 15th if I get pink slipped for a 3rd year in a row. Enough about the depressing issues, lets move on to the fun things in life.

It seems as if Carter is changing daily, I swear I have one smart boy on my hands. The kid talks up a storm and knows his numbers, alphabet and so many other things. I am truly amazed with this kid everyday. I am also blessed to have one amazing little monkey boy.

Almost 2 season's ago Roy and I decided to get Anaheim Ducks season tickets because we LOVE hockey. I actually just renewed our tickets for a 3rd year today. Having season tickets our lives have fallen into a routine of work, home, change, pick up the kid then head off to hockey. We absolutely love it even if it is crazy and we are sleep deprived on this 7 game homestand.

Well that's all I got right now since the Red Wings game is about to start.. Here's hoping the kick the Kings butts!!! I promise my next post wont be in another 2 1/2 years :)

Who needs sleep when you're a mommy!!!

Well, at this exact time 23 days ago i had my baby boy and it's hard to believe that i am a mommy. It definitely has not been a walk in a park, but i don't think it is for anyone. The first week wasn't so bad because i had my parents stopping by and Roy was here to help me during the day and at night. Well, all good things come to an end at some point or another. My mom went back to work and so did my hubby, which sucked. Roy and I were so excited that we were gonna have the first 6 weeks off together then he got that crappy phone call saying he had to go back. With him going back to work i started taking care of Carter all night since he had to be up in the morning for work then it was just me, carter and 2 puppies during the day. Now, taking care of a newborn and 2 puppies when you do not have a backyard is pretty hard. The dogs have to go out every few hours and with a baby, that's not so easy. Plus did i mention, i'm so not a morning person and i value my sleep. I've learned that during the morning when he takes his nap, so do I!!!!

Now that its been 23 days i've gotten used to getting up at 1a.m. and again at 5a.m. I guess i will be ready for when i go back to work :) I definitely look forward to the weekends when Roy is home so we can all spend time as a family. It's amazing how much Carter has changed in these 3 weeks and how much i love my little guy.

Roy and I had our first date friday. We left Carter with my parents for a few hours and went out to dinner and went and signed up for AT&T. I was very proud of myself, i didn't call my mom once, but boy did i miss my little one. I cant believe i only have 3 weeks left until i have to go back to work and be away from my little guy all day, i hope i dont have a breakdown the first day!!!! It's amazing how much a child can change your life, it forces you to stop thinking about yourself and think of what's best for your family. I definitely would not change one thing that is happening in my life right now because besides marrying Roy, Carter is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Our baby boy is here...

Well my son arrived exactly 2 weeks early if you go by my original due date. He was really listening to me when i kept telling him he needed to come early so mommy didn't have to pay for a sub. Wednesday night i went to bed with horrible chest pains so i didn't really sleep. I was up around 3a.m. thursday morning and at about 3:44a.m. when i thought of going potty i started leaking in bed. I got up and my water broke. Well after i went to the bathroom to really make sure it was my water i woke roy up saying "babe, my water just broke!" Well we took our sweet time because i wasn't having contractions and i called kaiser to make sure i should go in. Well i called and told my mom and apparently the second she said your water broke my dad was out of bed, dressed and brushing his teeth!!!! We decided to drop the dogs of at there house along the way then realized i also needed gas. Around 5a.m. we finally arrived at the hospital.

after getting checked the stupid midwife didn't believe me that my water broke and said i probably peed all over myself!!! HELLO, i think i would know if i peed on myself!!!! While they decided if they were gonna keep me or send me home, they said they would have me walk around. after i went pee again, i stood up and more water came gushing out of me!!!!

Finally that night at 10:08 p.m. my baby boy was born. It was a very long and tiring day!!!! Carter was 6lbs, 7oz. and 18 in long. He was born exactly 3 years, 3 months, 3hours and 6minutes after my niece. They both weighed the same and Carter was 1 inch smaller than her... We thought that was really cute....

Yes, i was on my myspace practically all day while in labor, but hey i was bored :) plus, nothing in my room worked... No air, no hot water, no t.v. for the first 6 hours, it was BORING!!!!

Thank you to everyone who has sent their congrats and love our way, i really appreciate it all. I am in complete awe of this baby boy and love him more than life itself. I am sitting here right now watching my hubby being the best daddy already. I cant wait for everyone to meet him because he is so precious!!!
